Diving In Oman

If you are planning a diving holiday , then what could be better than taking a trip to Oman. The Sultanate of Oman has so many placed that you can choose for your diving location, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Upon arriving in the country it will become apparent just how beautiful the coast line of Oman is. You will want to dive to the bottom of each, and every location that you visit ! There is a lot of under life sea inhabitants in Oman , although you also have to be extremely careful and tread with ‘caution’ as a lot of the secluded coast lies, have jelly fish.
Its not a huge problem, although you can on occasion bump into the odd jelly fish, (i’m talking from experience here !) we were on a family picnic at a quite cove close by to Quriat , when all of a sudden whilst the kiddies were swimming in the sea, out popped the shadows of not one, not, 2 but a hoard of Jellyfish ! Luckily we quickly made it to the shore. If you are a first timer to the Sultanate of Oman , as far as diving is concerned, then your probably better off sticking to organised events. A diving club in Oman that springs to mind is the Oman Diving club, located not far away from Al Bustan Palace hotel , and the new resort hotspot Bar Al Jisah hotel , a short drive out of Muscat.
One thing to be aware of is that the roads in Oman, are unlike those of any other ! in fact the traffic is terrible, and people seem to have a very laid back attitude at the wheel. Its not uncommon to pass by a driver casually strolling up the road – one hand to the wheel, and mobile phone to the ear. I guess what I’m trying to advise is that if you don’t know the area. DONT drive !
Taxis aren’t much of a help , when it comes to travelling about on your holiday in Oman , as the drivers seem to have the impression that tourists are the one stop ticket to triple fares. You should really look into palling up with a group of holiday makers, and go around finding the desolate diving hot spots in Oman as part of a group. Safety first , as they say. PDO Oman will also be a great place to ask about diving lessons in Oman , as there are heaps of Europeans located there , whom all take great advantage of the activities to do in Oman.
The Oman Diving Centre cost just 2RO per person for all day entry , there’s also a swimming pool inside.
